What makes a person “great?”
Honestly, the word depends on who you’re talking about. Some people, like Alexander the Great, held incredible power and influence over their subjects. Others earn the title by age – your great-grandfather or great-niece.
But for a select group, great is more than an adjective; it’s also a noun and adverb. One person wholly deserving of all three versions is our 2024 Kris-Tech Employee of the Year!
This person is important to the Kris-Tech community and performs their job excellently, using their unique skills to keep the company humming. Their dedication to the company earned them Employee of the Month in June, and their ongoing service recently netted them an even bigger prize – the GREAT honor of becoming one-of-one!
Meet your 2024 Kris-Tech Employee of the Year… Day Shift Material Handler John Coccagnia!
When John was named Employee of the Month in June, we talked about how difficult it is to move from one house to another, let alone move an entire facility somewhere else.
But John embraced the challenge head-on. It’s one thing to pitch in when needed, but his efforts helped the company make quick work of a once monumental project.
“John’s work took the pressure off the Otis team so they could start prepping the facility to receive all of Mill Pond’s materials,” Director of Operations Larry Reed explained back in June. “John also helped the maintenance team by taking down racking and sending it to the Otis St. Location. This allowed maintenance to focus on other machine moves.”
His efforts did more than simply get the job done, though. John’s patience and attention to detail freed up multiple teams to do their work more efficiently.
“I cannot express enough how committed John was and all the effort it took from him to make this move happen,” Reed said. “His commitment to excellence during the move had a tremendously positive impact on this project. Because of him, we moved the warehouse a month ahead of the planned schedule.”
Oh, not to mention the entire move was happening shortly before the busy summer season. No pressure, right?
Although not every day involves moving thousands of feet of warehouse space from one place to another, John is constantly on the move.
“Every day, John is bombarded with multiple stock check requests from the CSS and Sales teams,” Customer Service Representative Faith McNett said. “These stock checks can range from one line of a couple thousand feet to 15 lines or more, needing multiple bins checked for wire for a single order. There is such a wide range in the number of stock checks we ask him to check for us, and regardless of how big or small it is, he lets us know if it’s good to go in no time. John amazes me and has done so much for the CSS team.”
Of course, work is only one part of the equation. John’s kindness and ability to effortlessly connect with others puts him in a class all his own.
“When I started here at Kris-Tech, I didn’t know many people but tried to socialize with others and get to know them,” McNett explained. “I met John, and we instantly became friends. He’s always been wonderful to talk to and is someone I can trust. He’s such an understanding person and wants to see others succeed. John is so selfless and embraces the meaning of committing to excellence.”
While Kris-tech comes together to celebrate John and everything he has done for the company, we also reflect on all the employees who make Kris-Tech a great company.
We are so much more than a wire and cable manufacturer. We’re a thriving community supported by our five core values – something we call the Kris-Tech Way.
The Employee of the Year award closes the door to a wonderful, busy, successful 2024 campaign. It also opens the door for 2025 and a whole new crop of outstanding employees who embody what it means to bleed Kris-Tech blue!
