Donations support relief initiatives and programs in the Rome community following an EF-2 tornado.

August 2, 2024 – Rome, NY – Kris-Tech Wire, a leading copper wire manufacturer, is donating $5,000 to the Salvation Army of Rome, along with two stainless steel refrigerators. The company is joining forces with the non-profit organization to provide food, clothing, and other necessary items to those in need after a tornado tore through the upstate New York city.

On July 16, a confirmed EF-2 tornado tore through the city of Rome, damaging buildings, shuttering businesses, and uprooting lives. Despite suffering damage to its own building during the storm, the Salvation Army of Rome has stepped up to aid hundreds of people who need it most.

The Salvation Army in Rome is blessed and humbled by Kris-Tech’s generous support,” Captain Ted Tressler with the Salvation Army of Rome, said. “It’s only with the support of community partners such as Kris-Tech that we can provide help to our neighbors. This generosity truly changes lives, and our neighbors in the region who need a little help to get through these difficult times are more grateful than words can express.”Kris-Tech Wire Salvation Army Donation - 08.02.24

Kris-Tech Wire, which has been a community staple for 40 years in August, has volunteered with the non-profit on several occasions in recent years. This donation, along with an ongoing food and clothing drive hosted by the manufacturer, will help replenish the Salvation Army’s stocks while allowing its team to continue serving those in need.

“We’ve always loved working with the Rome Salvation Army because of how much good they do for our community,” Director of Employee Engagement Wendy Calabrese explained. “When we heard what they were going through and how many people rely on them for help, especially now, we knew we had to do something. This is just the latest instance of us partnering with them to keep our city and area healthy, happy, and hopeful.”

Donations for Kris-Tech’s clothing and food drive can be dropped off at the company’s headquarters at 80 Otis Street in Rome until August 9. Donations for the Salvation Army’s Rome relief efforts can be made by texting HelpRome to 31333 or online at give.salvationarmy.org/HelpRome. All donations will support initiatives and assistance programs in the Rome area.
