Horizontal Directional Drilling Wire (HDD)

Scope:

Single conductor Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) Wire is intended for use with locating systems by providing the electrical signal from the directional steering controls to the directional drilling bore head. It is suitable for lighting and power in industrial applications.

Applicable Standards and Tests:

ASTM B-1, B-3, and B-8, UL 83 and UL 1581. All products are spark tested at 7500 VAC unless otherwise specified.

Construction:

Conductors:

The single conductors are solid or stranded annealed or hard uncoated copper.

Insulation:

Concentrically applied PVC (polyvinyl chloride) insulation with a single layer construction. This eliminates the “balling” and joint breakage more typical of multi-layer constructions. Rated at -25°C to 75°C, 600V for wet or dry conditions.

Identification and Packaging:

The wire shall be identified by surface marking indicating the manufacturer and AWG size. 500 ft. and 2500 ft. spools are standard. Custom lengths, non-standard colors, AWG and custom packaging are available by request.
